Recently, the custom 6-axis milling robot carving arm exclusively developed by ARTECH CNC COMPANY for a Southeast Asian sculpture processing client has completed full joint commissioning and physical carving acceptance in our intelligent manufacturing workshop. The client’s technical team stayed on-site to follow the entire testing procedure and spoke highly of the machine’s flexible machining performance and long-term operation stability.
The client specializes in mass production of large landscape foam models, marble figure reliefs and garden stone ornaments. Conventional fixed 3-axis carving machines fail to realize 360° 3D curved surface processing, requiring repeated manual clamping and flipping of workpieces, which leads to inconsistent carving precision and long production cycles. After receiving the client’s demands, ARTECH CNC technical team customized and optimized the robot arm reach, water-cooled high-speed carving spindle and linkage control system to adapt to dual processing materials (stone & foam), equipped with a tailor-made rotary worktable to eliminate blind zones for all-around 3D sculpture milling.
During factory commissioning, engineers completed five core verification procedures: base horizontal calibration, servo parameter matching, 3D model path simulation, 8-hour continuous no-load durability test and physical carving of foam & stone samples. High-density foam figure blanks and natural stone reliefs were processed on site. The machine maintained repeat positioning error within 0.02mm, perfectly restoring relief textures, human body contours and smooth curved transitions, with no vibration, tool breakage or material chipping during long-hour continuous carving. By comparing finished products from old and new equipment, the client calculated that this customized robot arm cuts manual flipping procedures by 70% and raises overall production efficiency by 38%.
The client’s technical supervisor commented on site that this custom milling robot arm fully fits their diversified sculpture production needs. The high-precision flexible machining performance shown during factory testing exceeded expectations and thoroughly solved processing difficulties of complex 3D models. The machine will be directly put into mass production of landscape sculptures after delivery.
