Jinan Artech CNC Machinery Co., Ltd. ("Artech CNC") has completed the on-site installation and commissioning of a CNC milling robot arm at a customer's manufacturing facility in Canada. The system is now running in production, and the customer has expressed satisfaction with both the machine's performance and the support delivered by Artech's engineering team.
The project grew out of the customer's need to upgrade an existing production line — reducing dependence on manual work while improving consistency and throughput when machining complex curved workpieces.
During the selection stage, Artech's technical team worked through the customer's workpiece dimensions, required working envelope, accuracy targets and production cycle time in a series of exchanges. The final configuration was tailored to those conditions: robot reach and stroke, spindle setup, workholding method and the control scheme were all specified around the customer's actual parts rather than taken from a standard catalogue model.
The package also includes robot milling programming software that generates toolpaths directly from 3D models, which shortens programming time for free-form surfaces and lowers the level of programming experience required from operators.
After the equipment arrived at the plant, Artech engineers travelled to Canada and carried out mechanical installation and leveling, coordinate system calibration and full-system integration.
Test cuts were then run on the customer's own workpieces. Dimensional accuracy and surface finish both met the targets agreed at the project's outset, and the machine was released to production.
The engineers followed up with structured training for the customer's operators and maintenance staff. The sessions covered program recall and editing, tool and spindle parameter settings, routine maintenance points, and handling of common alarms — so that the customer's team can now run daily production and carry out basic maintenance independently.
The customer's production manager commented that the robot arm runs stably and that machining accuracy and efficiency meet the goals set at the start of the project. Artech's engineers, he added, communicated clearly and responded quickly on site, and the training was practical enough to get the line into production quickly. The customer also indicated that Artech CNC will be considered for future capacity expansion.
"We measure a project like this by two things: whether the machine performs as specified, and whether the customer's team can run it confidently on their own," said a representative of Artech CNC's overseas service team. "Both were confirmed on this installation, and we will continue to support the customer remotely as production ramps up."
