Recently, ARTECH CNC Company has independently completed the full-cycle design, assembly and comprehensive testing of a customized milling robot arm integrated with a high-precision rotary turntable, which has been successfully delivered to a manufacturing client. After on-site continuous machining verification, the equipment met all technical standards, and the client spoke highly of its machining accuracy, flexible processing performance and integrated design solution.
The client specializes in the sculpting of large foam, solid wood and special-shaped stone workpieces. Its original processing equipment suffered from multiple drawbacks including repeated workpiece clamping, blind zones in curved surface machining, complicated working procedures and low overall efficiency. During pre-delivery technical communication, the client put forward three core requirements: finishing all-sided three-dimensional carving in a single clamping, 360° dead-angle-free milling of large-size workpieces, and stable and durable equipment operation.
To address the client’s production pain points, the R&D team of ARTECH CNC optimized the overall mechanical structure and equipped the milling robot arm with a high-load DD direct-drive rotary turntable. The integrated system realizes coordinated multi-axis movement of the robot arm and 360° continuous rotation of the turntable. Without repeated manual disassembly and clamping, one-time positioning can complete all processing procedures for three-dimensional reliefs, curved contours and special-shaped sculptures. The positioning error of the turntable is controlled at the micron level. Combined with the high-rigidity robot arm body, the precision deviation caused by repeated clamping is greatly reduced, and the equipment is compatible with various processing materials such as wood, foam, resin and light stone.
Before factory delivery, the machine underwent a 72-hour non-stop load cutting test. Batch carving tests were carried out with the client’s common workpiece models. The finished products featured smooth curved surfaces and consistent dimensional accuracy, with the overall processing efficiency improved by over 35% compared with the client’s original equipment. At the delivery site, the client’s technical team observed the equipment operation, programming operation and finished product inspection in full, and fully verified core indicators including the rotation accuracy of the turntable, smooth movement of the robot arm and ease of operation of the control system.
